The DIY tale of an elephant

It has been a while since I saw an amazing elephant graphic via Pinterest from the Boat People Vintage people blog and have had it in the back of my mind to re-create the print onto a large canvas for our living room.

With a quick visit to De Serres and leftover Blackjack Benjamin Moore paint, I decided it was time to bring this creation to life.

I started with a quick sketch on the canvas with pencil.  Once the outline and major details were completed, I began the paint on canvas.

Here is the final product in 36" x 40" format.

I wasn't happy with the front foot, so I reworked the painting using white paint to retouch the entire elephant and that allowed me to correct the right foot and trunk.
