Food Review: Tejano BBQ Burrito- simple, quick, affordable and just delicious
Since Dennis and I had our last leg of appointments with the specialists for the heart transplant pre-requisites, we planned our first date as a celebratory late lunch. We wanted to try something new.
To do something different, today's blog features a his and her review of our experience at Tejano. We set ourselves to a 15 min blog-off for this review and we had a ton of fun doing this challenge and hope you enjoy reading it too.
His view:
Ever been to California and had a really good burrito from a dirty old food cart run by an old Mexican grandma?? I have and let me tell you it was good, it was huge and it was cheap!
Unfortunately Montreal doesn't allow food carts and the Mexican population is rather small due to the weather and the French language, but that doesn't mean you couldn't get a delicious burrito here!
Enter Tejano's: a cozy Resto found on Courcelles in between Dagenais and Notre Dame. Decor - simple, portions - generous, staff - friendly. Their menu is kept rather small, but very delicious. Their condiments are all fresh and would have to say their Chorizo pork was the best choice with regards to the protein choices.Their prices seem a little expensive, but for the amount of food you get, is quite reasonable. 10$ - regular burrito and 14$ - extra large. Let me say this, it is extremely difficult to eat an extra large burrito to oneself!
All in all, I highly recommend Tejano's and will definitely eat here again! Oh and by the way, tell the staff that señor Carranza sent you and receive a free drink and 20% off.

A quaint little place in Montreal's St.Henri offers something unique and all of its charm encapsulated in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Casual and pleasant, this place offers the perfect small menu that has protein for all food lovers, with an option for vegetarian, and also a low carb salad option if you would like to forego the delicious refried or black beans, tortillas or rice. A colourful array of toppings awaits your heart's content as you decide upon which adventure to choose from: either pork chorizo, beef bbq ancho & cumin, smoked chicken tinga or vegetarian chili.
For an extra treat, you can order a side of tortillas with salsa and guacamole, but there is so much variety in flavours and textures in the burrito and bowls that you will leave this place super content for both quality and price. To wash it all down, how about a refeshing treat of pineapple, lime or tamarind flavoured soda? Just some more examples of unique and authentic, tasty flavours to name a few.
A definate must try for all foodies. Much love to the Tejano's crew for their hospitality and cleanliness. This venue holds only a small crowd so big groups not advised, perhaps do a collective take-out run to please the crowd. (Group order download PDF: FR/ EN)
